The majority of MPs believe that energy efficient heating controls should also be installed when boilers are replaced, figures from a recent survey by the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) have been able to reveal.

The Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) has been campaigning for heating controls to be recognised as an important factor in driving down energy bills and maximising the benefit of having a new boiler fitted.

The group also argued that, while there are over 1.5 million new boilers fitted each year, and it is estimated that 70% of homes do not have the minimum heating controls installed that are specified in Building Regulations.

EUA chief executive Mike Foster said: “It should be mandatory for a full set of heating controls to be fitted when a boiler is replaced. It is the ideal time to add these to the existing heating system of a home and maximise the savings the consumer will make.

“All government-supported schemes like the Green Deal and ECO should encourage this approach. MPs overwhelmingly support the measure and the government needs to show leadership on this.

“New smart controls make an even bigger impact by allowing the boiler to react automatically to outside temperatures, which all helps to keep bills down. Recognising the merits of these controls and encouraging their use would be a positive step.”

HeatingSave – top range energy efficient heating control system

Real savings in terms of energy usage can only be achieved by implementing a proven system capable of optimizing energy expenditure within any building.

The HeatingSave Building Energy Management System helps customers save more than 30% on their bills by optimizing any heating system’s overall functionality. This is done by taking into account a variety of factors, such as internal and external temperatures, occupancy, time of the year, the particular characteristics of installed boilers, etc.

All of the data is used in order to determine the best heating patterns for the various heating zones within any building, using our proprietary heat-loss algorithm.

The end result is that users still get a very good level of comfort, while in the same time saving energy and money in the process.
