Fund supporting energy efficiency investments secures £2 million
Innovate UK’s ‘Energy Game Changer fund’, designed to promote new ways of solving some of the technical challenges in the energy efficiency industry, has managed to secure a total of £2 million in funding, a recent news report has found.
The latest organization to contribute to this fund was the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), who is particularly interested in technologies that could be applied to decommissioning challenges.
The competition will open on 28th March. The funding will be allocated through a competitive process, with SMEs welcome to submit stand-alone project ideas or work collaboratively with partner organisations.
Melanie Brownridge, Head of Technology at NDA said: “The UK is home to a number of world leading companies in a wide range of cutting-edge fields such as robotics and computer gaming. We want to harness this dynamic and creative thinking in order to address some of the long term challenges the nuclear decommissioning industry faces.
“Innovative solutions can mean that our decommissioning work is achieved more safely, sooner and at a lower cost for the taxpayer. We want to stimulate the development and adoption of novel and emerging and as alternatives to established technologies to improve the way we do things.”
HeatingSave is approved to work and save fuel within the Energy Technology List, which is managed by the Carbon Trust on behalf of the Government. It is also approved by the Department of Energy & Climate Change and the Energy Savings Trust and was specified by the Building Research Establishment for the energy efficient homes retro-fit program, called The Greenhouse Project.
Last, but certainly not least, it’s important to mention that HeatingSave is a component part of the Government’s Green Deal program.
